Jose E. Barrera, Chief Attorney, holds over twenty years of successful legal experience in personal injury, product liability, maritime law, and other civil matters. A native of Corpus Christi, Jose graduated from W.B. Ray High School before obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in International Studies at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He earned his law degree in 2003 from the University Of Houston School Of Law; and because he couldn’t wait to start representing the people who need justice, he opened his own firm immediately after graduation.
In 2010, Jose moved back to his roots in South Texas where his practice and his reputation continue to grow. As the go-to attorney for top of the line legal services, Jose uses his natural gifts of patience and understanding in his unparalleled personal approach with clients. And, his strong work ethic for everyday people has built long-lasting relationships among his clients and the community.
In his spare time, Jose enjoys fishing, boxing, watching football, and mentoring young athletes at a local boxing gym in Corpus Christi.

JORGE LUIS BARRERA JR.
Jorge Luis Barrera, Jr., Lead Investigator/Office Manager began his career at the J. Barrera Law Firm as an intern over twelve years ago. He devotes his energy and focus on simplifying the legal process for clients and on building trust with a personalized approach. A master negotiator with a meticulous eye, Jorge has established himself as someone who exceeds expectations for every client and every case. His comprehensive knowledge of personal injury, property, and maritime claims helps him to tailor the J. Barrera Law Firm’s strategies to ensure that he and the staff create a positive client experience.
Jorge is no stranger to learning and hard work. Born and raised in Corpus Christi, he graduated from West Oso High School with academic and athletic honors, participating in a range of extracurricular activities including football, basketball, track, and the UIL debate club. Jorge continued his education, earning an associate degree from Del Mar College, and a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M Kingsville.
For fun, Jorge likes to fish, travel, and attend sports events throughout the country.

Brianna Joy Calderón- Barrera, Licensed Private Investigator, is a member of the National Association of Legal Investigators Incorporated. As a trained paralegal with courses in business administration, Brianna approaches each case with the intense diligence and precision it takes to provide clients with the best possible outcomes. Her philosophy to “leave no stone unturned,” captures the lengths to which she goes for our clients. Her courage and optimism contribute to the propelling the J. Barrera Law Firm to another level.
Brianna’s outside passions include painting, spending time with her family, and fishing.

Our beloved Mauro Homero Luna, “Homer,” served as the Marketing Director at J. Barrera Law Firm before passing away in 2021. Homer’s work commitment demonstrates one of our key values at J. Barrera: loyalty. Throughout his 45 years of employment at Time Warner Cable and his 44 years as a football official, Homer cultivated relationships for the betterment of every life he touched. Although he only worked at the Firm for five years, his imprint is deep. The memory of his friendly, outgoing, and helpful attitude reminds us how much our relationships with our clients matter.

Norma and her husband, Richard share six children, eight grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. When they are not keeping her busy, she enjoys painting, baking, cooking, and international travel.

Rosie Schmitz was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Schmitz gained sizeable knowledge of the medical environment when working as a nurse assistant for 10 years in Minnesota. Once she returned to Coastal Bend, she began work on the other side of the doctor’s office. Her specialty in medical billing has served J. Barrera Law Firm well. She is a direct link for clients to scheduled appointments, and her customer service is unmatched. Rosie always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude, making her an excellent liaison for clients that are experiencing personal injury or trauma. She is a coordinating link between clients and their doctors. Rosie has two children and enjoys reading or fishing in her spare time.
